position will perform monthly laboratory safety inspections to identify hazards,
generate corrective actions and follow-up on recommendations; monitor
underground storage tank use, permitting, and when applicable, remedial soil
contamination operations; coordinate proper disposal of universal, medical and
hazardous waste per federal, state and local regulations; coordinate and
monitor industrial hygiene activities such as water, air and material of
unknown properties sampling; maintain chemical inventories for various
departments on all campuses (update as needed); secure and monitor material
safety data sheets for all chemicals using internal and external resources;
manage master file for material safety data sheets for all campuses; give
technical guidance relative to material safety data sheets interpretation.
Minimum qualifications: bachelor of chemistry, occupational health and safety,
or industrial hygiene from an accredited institution, and three years of
full-time experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience) in hazard waste
management compliance; material safety data sheet monitoring and evaluating
chemical physical properties or experience in a closely related field of
