font-family:Arial'>During the month of March, the Central Campus library is
featuring artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude in a themed book display. Christo
is known for his visually impressive and often controversial installations,
which include wrapping well known items large and small, such as islands,
rivers, buildings (the Reichstag), bridges (Pont Neuf), trees, toilets, and
bouquets of flowers. Other works include the 24-mile-long curtain called <b><i><span
style='font-weight:bold;font-style:italic'>Running Fence</span></i></b> in
Marin and <st1:City w:st="on">Sonoma</st1:City> counties in <st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State>,
and most recently <b><i><span style='font-weight:bold;font-style:italic'>The
Gates</span></i></b> in <st1:City w:st="on">New York City</st1:City>’s <st1:place
w:st="on">Central Park</st1:place>. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

font-family:Arial'>Art critic David Bourdon has described Christo’s
wrappings as a “revelation through concealment.” Christo’s
partner, Jeanne-Claude, manages the public relations and logistical side of the
partnership, while Christo makes the final creative decisions as the primary
artist and designer of the projects. Please visit the library during the month
of March to learn more about this iconoclastic, creative duo.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
