From Communicator at cpcc.edu Mon Jan 24 20:44:56 2011 From: Communicator at cpcc.edu (CPCC Office of Community Relations Communicator) Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2011 20:44:56 -0500 Subject: [Cpcommunicator] Advisory: Security Incidents at Central Campus In-Reply-To: References: <8A53703BD7CEDC488D34F22FC205909803BB77F1EE08@X7S3-CENTRAL.cpcc.edu> Message-ID: <8208AC37705CEB498FB3036D016351A40C03C62C86@X7S2-CENTRAL.cpcc.edu> Central Piedmont Community College's Central Campus experienced two security incidents on the afternoon of Monday, January 24, 2011. The first incident, a robbery, took place in the quad area. There was no report of a weapon in the incident; however, the victim, a CPCC student, suffered minor injuries after being assaulted. The suspect is reported as an African-American male of medium build (approximately 5'8"), with gold front teeth and wearing a red sweater and black pants. The second incident, an armed robbery, took place in student deck #2; the victim, a CPCC student, reported that the assailant stated he was armed with a gun. There were no injuries in the second incident. The suspect is reported as an African-American male wearing black pants and a brown hoodie. Investigators have not determined if the two incidents are related. The College is working closely with the authorities on both of these investigations. The safety and security of our students and our staff are our top priorities, and you will see an increased security presence on Central Campus. Apparently Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers are seeing an increase in this kind of incident throughout our area. They are also seeing similar instances of suspects asking for the time, which presents an opportunity for theft when the unsuspecting victim pulls out a cell phone to check the time. Please be alert, and if you are approached by an individual you do not know who asks to use your cell phone or for the time, decline the request. If you see any suspicious activity, please contact Campus Security at 704.330.6911. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
