Although your IT Services team had prepared our systems to handle an increased volume for this Spring term and nearly doubled the capacity for online registration, the Datatel software was overwhelmed by the heavy traffic during these past four days. With the increased demand for classes, implementation of Student Academic Progress, and the increased use for class schedule searches, we are again seeing record numbers. Within the first three days of registration we have served over 65,000 unique visits to myCollege (WebAdvisor) with 11,051 students who successfully registered already filling 40% of our class seat capacity. Within three days, 381 sections have completely filled, 55 sections are 90% or more full and another 108 sections have less than 25% capacity available. Regardless of these statistics, we understanding the importance of the individual user experience. We have been working with Datatel to address this performance issue under the extreme load we have experienced. We have been constantly monitoring our systems. The compute capacity of servers and network has not been the issue. Therefore, Datatel has focused on their programming and has their top engineers working to address this. We will provide further information as we receive them. We want to thank you again for your patience. We especially thank ESS and all the volunteers in developing alternative solutions to help our students. Malik K. Now is the time to make your gift before year-end for 2009 tax purposes. It is also a great time to make your gift in memory or in honor of family, friends, or colleagues. If we receive your gift by December 15, 2009, the Foundation will send a notice of your gift to individuals you specify in time for the holidays. With rapidly growing enrollment and state budget cuts, your support is ever more critical. One of your colleagues writes, "Giving to the Family Campaign makes me feel good because I know the money is going to a good cause. I feel good knowing that I can pick which fund my money goes to and that students who really need assistance will have the opportunity to attend CPCC. I also like that a portion of my donation can go to fund awards for my deserving peers." Make your gift today by credit card or payroll deduction, download gift forms, or get more information about the Family Campaign at http://www.cpcc.edu/foundation/2010-family-campaign. Your gifts help our students succeed and enable the College to offer much-need educational and job-training programs. Your gifts also make you eligible for prizes and help your campus win special employee participation and giving awards. Please contact the Foundation office or your Campus Captain listed below with any questions. Thank you for all you do to make CPCC great!
