This process allows us adequate time to understand the technological impact, ensure the availability of sufficient resources, and coordinate the acquisition, testing and implementation of needed software, hardware and services prior to the start of semester. This is a reminder to submit your computer classroom setup requests to Information Technology Services by the following deadline: Spring Semester 2009: December 1, 2008 Requests received after these dates will need to be authorized by your dean and will be addressed on a first-come, first-served basis. Examples of the types of things you need to communicate to us are: * department purchase of new software, * adopting new course materials which require a particular plug-in or other software installation, * need for a non-Windows XP operating system, * need for additional network storage, * new hardware which needs to be installed, etc. To request a change, simply fill out the Setup Classroom Configuration web form found at https://secure2.cpcc.edu/classroom Please include any software (e.g. applications, compilers, plug-ins, freeware, CDs from texts), hardware (e.g. swappable drives, routers, peripherals) or other need (e.g. additional file storage, specific server configuration) required to operate the class for the semester. If you would like to review the list of the standard software that is included in each computer classroom, open computer lab or smart classroom, please visit http://www.cpcc.edu/its/faculty-staff/technology-enhanced-facilities/ins tructional-images Important: Windows XP remains the current operating system for all Microsoft computer platforms at the college. Microsoft Office 2007 products will be the only version of Microsoft Office included on every College-owned computer. In an effort to mitigate confusion and software conflicts, Microsoft Office 2003 products will be provided only if specifically asked for through this process. Please recognize that our ability to meet identified needs is contingent upon the availability of resources (funds, personnel, and time). If needed after reviewing your request, we will initiate a dialogue with your department to establish accurate expectations. If we do not receive any requests to change your classroom setups, we'll assume that the current configurations meet your needs, and your classrooms will remain as they are with the exception of Microsoft Office as noted above. Thank you. If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 704.330.5000 or through email at helpdesk at cpcc.edu Web: www.cpcc.edu/itservices Hours of Operation: Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 9:30 pm Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Saturday 8:00 am - 12:00 Noon -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We want our students to have the right book when they need it, and we make every effort to find a used copy. If you are planning to use the same text next semester, tell us as soon as possible! We will be able to buy those textbooks from students at the end of the current semester. Or if you are using a different text, advance notice gives us time to request used books from other college stores in the efollett.com network so they can buy them back for us. This ensures that plenty of used books will be available for your course. Early adoptions help students twice: More cash back at buyback and less expensive, used books later. Bring your donations in now through November 21, 2008, to the designated contact at your campus. This is a reminder to submit your computer classroom setup requests to Information Technology Services by the following deadline: Spring Semester 2009: December 1, 2008 Requests received after these dates will need to be authorized by your dean and will be addressed on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 14 CPCC families who need our help! These are people just like you and me who work right here at CPCC. These are regular people who have fallen on hard times and need a little help. Classified Staff Council usually pulls its resources together to help families referred to us by Social Services. This year, we've decided to turn our focus to our own families. We have made it our mission this Thanksgiving to provide a delicious, bountiful Thanksgiving Dinner. Unfortunately, this isn't all they need. We are challenging each campus to give as much support and assistance as possible this drive. We can't do this without your help. To lighten up a difficult situation we thought it might be fun if we made a healthy competition out of this drive this year. J WHAT WE NEED: Nonperishable food items/canned goods, gift cards to places like Food Lion, Walmart, Bi Lo, etc. Bring your donations in now through November 21, 2008, to the designated contact at your campus. Each campus rep will report to the council weekly on donation status in order to determine the overall winner come November 21. The campus who donates the most to this cause will be listed in the Communicator under the title: "XXXX Campus CANNED THE COMPETITION!" North Campus has already filled their donation box once! They are close to filling it a second time. Our larger campuses should be able to match, if not beat, North Campus's outpour of generosity and "Can the Competition!" Our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandmothers and children need our help. These are OUR CPCC family members struggling. Who better to give them a hand up than their own CPCC Family? Thank you. Electricity bills are rising! The Center for Sustainability provides you with a simple but effective tool to find out which of your appliances are energy hogs. Need to know which appliance to replace? Simply connect any appliances to the Kill-A-Watt unit, and it will assess how efficient they really are. Large LCD display will count consumption by the kilowatt hour, same as your local utility. You can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month, even an entire year. Instructions for use are included. Also check the quality of your power by monitoring voltage, line frequency, and power factor. Now you?ll know if it is time for a new refrigerator or if that old air conditioner is still saving you money. How much is it costing you to leave your computer running all day and night? With the amazing Kill-A-Watt, you?ll know "watts" wasting your energy dollars. For more details, please contact the Center for Sustainability at 6756 - or stop by and visit us on Central Campus in IT-1110! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Professional Development will offer a number of training sessions so that full-time and part-time faculty and instructional office assistants will understand the features of this new system. In addition, an online tutorial will also be available the week of December 1. A schedule of one-hour sessions for all campus locations is listed below. Register in LearnerWeb today!
