You can easily format titles and headings, for example, by using Quick Styles. To add a style, select the text you want to change. Then, on the Ribbon, on the Home tab, in the Styles group, place the pointer over a style. You can see how a style will look in your document just by pointing to it, without having to click it. So many of us spend most of our time in the workplace (at a desk or behind a computer) and in the car commuting, it makes sense to take advantage of a simple walk at work to incorporate more fitness into our workday. According to the American Heart Association, you gain two hours of life expectancy for every one hour of regular exercise. Start walking today. * For health: walking strengthens your heart, your bones and your muscles ... and it helps to control your weight. * For wealth: walking is free and will enrich your life in many ways. * For happiness: walking improves your mood and helps combat depression. * For comfort: go for a walk around your building, around your campus and discover how to reduce stress and calm your mind. * For joy: walk with friends or co-workers and discover just how much fun walking can be! Walk with your department to share your commitment to living a healthier life and then continue to walk your way to the CPCC Walking Wall of Fame. The CPCC Walking Hall of Fame will recognize all employees who walk (at CPCC, at the gym or at home) 100, 500 or 1,000 miles. Use any of the walking logs at http://www1.cpcc.edu/bewell/Walking/100-mile-walking-logs or http://www1.cpcc.edu/bewell/Walking/bewell/docs/WalkingLogExcel to tally your miles. Once your 100 miles are complete (using the honor system), send your walking log document to Libby Vagnoni, and you will be awarded a personalized virtual plaque, posted on CPCC's Walking Hall of Fame. There are also 500 and 1,000-mile awards. For more information, call your campus Be Well contact or visit the Be Well website . To access ORBIT, visit http://www.myncretirement.com and select the "ORBIT" button from the "Retirement" drop-down menu. You will be directed to the login page where you may complete your registration or log in if you've already registered. One way that we can support our CPCC family (students, faculty and staff) is by giving to our CPCC Foundation. The foundation provides scholarships to our students and financial support to the programs. In addition, the foundation knows how important it is to recognize the accomplishments and hard work of faculty and staff. I think that it is wonderful how the foundation provides the monetary awards and plaques that are presented each semester to the selected faculty and staff. Without our financial support, the foundation wouldn't be able to do this. So, with your gift of any size, let's come together to strengthen our CPCC family so that we can continue to award scholarships to students seeking an education, provide funds to support our great programs, recognize our outstanding faculty and staff, and much more. You can make your gift online or download the brochure at 2008 Employee Campaign . Chris Hailey -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... For the first time, the Retirement Systems Division will mail On the Horizon newsletters and employees' annual statements directly to homes this year. This is an improvement over past years when statements and newsletters were sent to employers for distribution. Due to the size of the mailing, statements will be sent in waves beginning in mid-April. The mailing for the first wave will be staggered throughout the month. As a result, employees within the same organization may receive their statements at different times. The second wave will be mailed later in the spring. The date of the second mailing will be communicated once it is scheduled. If home addresses are out of date and statements are returned as undeliverable, these statements will be sent to the employer for distribution. Annual statements will be mailed to employees who made contributions to their retirement account as of December 31, 2007. Those with less than 12 months of service, with contributions as of December 31, will receive a shorter one-page statement. As in previous years, those who did not contribute to the Retirement System as of December 31, such as retirees or terminated employees, will not receive a statement. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We want our customers to have the right book when they need it, and we make every effort to find a used copy. If you are planning to use the same text next semester, tell us as soon as possible! We will be able to buy those textbooks from students at the end of the current semester. Or if you are using a different text, advance notice gives us time to request used books from other college stores in the efollett.com network so they can buy them back for us. This ensures that plenty of used books will be available for your course. Early adoptions help students twice: more cash back at buyback and less expensive used books later. The key to having this program work is timely communication. The bookstore needs to receive textbook ordering information prior to each buyback period. That means that we need to know which books are needed for three months before the start of the new semester. By working together we can help keep the price of textbooks down. Need more information? Call the Lisa Sanford, CPCC Textbook Manager, at 3515 or email lsanford at cpcc.edu. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Those commands used most frequently are now the most prominent, and you'll see them first when you open PowerPoint 2007. The goal is to keep them visible so you don't have to hunt for them on menus or toolbars that aren't displayed. The set of most-used commands extends across the first layer, or tab, or the Ribbon, called the Home tab. Displayed as buttons, these commands support frequent tasks, including copying and pasting, adding slides, changing slide layout, formatting and positioning text, and finding and replacing text. There are other tabs on the Ribbon. Each tab is devoted to a type of work you do when you create a presentation. Buttons on each tab are arranged in logical groups. The most popular buttons in each group are the largest. To view this entire Microsoft course, you may visit http://office.microsoft.com/training/aspz?AssetID+RC10068767.
