Dr. Cynthia Combs, professor of political science at UNC Charlotte, will
be our guest speaker during CPCC's Constitution Day program. Dr. Combs
earned her Ph.D. at George Washington University and has been a faculty
member at UNC Charlotte since 1989. Her book, Terrorism in the
Twenty-First Century (Prentice Hall, 4th edition 2005), has been used by
law enforcement agencies nationwide, the U.S. Department of State, the
military academies, and many colleges and universities. She also is
co-author of Encyclopedia of Terrorism (Facts-on-File, 2002). In her
lecture, Dr. Combs will discuss the Patriot Act and the constitutional
issues it has raised about surveillance and invasion of privacy.

Dr. Combs is scheduled to speak at Central Campus on Wednesday,
September 19, at 10:30 a.m. in Overcash Center, Tate Hall. If you plan
to bring your class to the program, please RSVP to Mark Helms at 6127
with the number of students you will be bringing. This promises to be a
popular program, and we are prepared to move into a larger room if
necessary.

For more information, please contact Mark Helms at 6127.
