The UNC-Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School Charlotte Alumni Club
and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce will host the second annual
Charlotte Legacy Event on Wednesday, November 7, at Spirit Square
beginning at 6:00 p.m. During the evening, the Hugh McColl Legacy Award
will be presented to Dr. Zeiss for his visionary and transformational
leadership to the Charlotte community. This award was inspired by the
leadership example of Hugh McColl and was established to inspire and
energize citizens of Charlotte to take on leadership responsibilities to
give back to Charlotte and the community.

In addition, there will be a panel discussion on transforming the
educational system in Charlotte. The theme for the panel is "Public
Education Is a Fundamental Building Block for a World Class Business
Center." The panel will discuss how business and educators can best work
together to improve education in Charlotte and move our high schools
into the 21st century. Panelists include Dr. Phil Dubois, Chancellor of
the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; Dr. Peter Gorman,
Superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools; Ms. Teresa Maria
Rivero, Gates Foundation; and Dr. Tony Zeiss.

The evening will begin with refreshments at 6:00 p.m. followed by the
awards presentation at 6:45 p.m. and the panel discussion at 7:00 p.m.
The evening will conclude with dessert and coffee at 8:00 p.m.
