The purpose of this closure is to allow the installation of utility lines and other infrastructure that will support the current and future building projects around Central Campus. Construction will be centered on two sections of Elizabeth Ave. - the area between the student parking deck and the Taylor Building, and the area between Sloan-Morgan Building and the Overcash Center. Students and staff are urged to use caution when walking near these construction areas. Limited local traffic will be allowed onto Pease Lane from the intersection of Elizabeth Ave. and Kings Drive. CITY OF CHARLOTTE STREET IMPROVEMENT The City of Charlotte is scheduled to begin a major street improvement project for Elizabeth Ave. beginning possibly as early as September 2007. During this construction, Elizabeth Ave. from Kings Drive to Independence Blvd. will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. There will be designated crosswalks to allow pedestrians cross Elizabeth Ave. during construction. Once started, this project is expected to last approximately 1 ? years. The end result of this project will be enhanced pedestrian access for Elizabeth Ave., creation of additional greenscape, relocation of overhead utilities to underground utilities, and the installation of a streetcar line that will eventually run from Presbyterian Hospital to Johnson C. Smith University. Facilities Service and Marketing Services are working closely with the City of Charlotte to plan alternative means of campus access, and to ensure the campus community is kept informed on the project and its impact on the Central Campus. Look for more information on this project as it becomes available. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Since these scores were input in late April, students who tested before then or students in classes now seeking to pre-register may not have the needed permissions. This is affecting hundreds of students! Counselors, math instructors, and registration personnel at the campuses will be happy to help students. In order for all faculty and staff to properly advise students, please be aware of the following guidelines: * If a student has not taken any math and completed only the algebra portion of the Accuplacer, he must go to the Testing Center and take the arithmetic portion before placement can be determined. * If a student has only an algebra score but has already completed a math course at CPCC, then we can give prerequisite permission for the next course in the sequence if the algebra score is sufficient. * If a student has both algebra and arithmetic scores and is now eligible for a higher level class than she had been before, we can enter prereq permission based on the new cut scores. * At this point in the semester, we can give prereq permission for the next level course if the student is currently enrolled in that prereq. (For example, if a student is in MAT-080 currently, we can give permission for MAT-161.) This should be automatic, but due to the changes some students have not been assigned the permission. * We cannot give permission for a fall 2007 course based on enrollment in its prerequisite in summer. These will be allowed in mid-June, when the student's successful status in the prereq can be determined. * Any ENG or RED prereqs are "suggested prereqs," and students can click on through and register in spite of them. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. Please direct students with problems to the office of any math instructor on their campus or to the Math Division office on Central or to the Office of Counseling and Advising Services, Student Success Center, or the ESS director on any campus. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The aristocracy so abused their wealth and power that the common man rose up in revolt, and democracy in Western Europe and America was born. Mozart's astonishing dramatic characters and breath-taking beautiful music create the powerful communication of this politically charged work. This power translates to contemporary time in a manner that touches the core of the current human condition. Sung in English and set in our current time, this production of The Marriage of Figaro will carry the audience on a journey of musical beauty and the triumph of right over wrong, truth over falsehood, fidelity over infidelity that were experienced in Mozart's day and are still experienced in the 21st century. David Tang, former associate conductor of the Charlotte Symphony and principal conductor of the Charlotte Oratorio Singers will make his CPCC Opera Theatre debut as Conductor. Once again, sung by a cast of outstanding local artists, don't miss the opportunity to see this timeless masterpiece in a new and refreshing way!!
