>From Karen Stanley
Learn about Mexican culture of the Cuernavaca region.
This summer, CPCC is sponsoring a study abroad opportunity for faculty and staff to the Cuernavaca region of Mexico. Academic ESL instructor and study abroad trip leader Karen Stanley will conduct this workshop, which will be held Tuesday, March 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in VE 315.
Cuernavaca is the capital and largest city of the state <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_state> of Morelos <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morelos> in Mexico <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico> . It is located about 85 km. (50 miles) south of Mexico City <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_City> . It is known as "the city of eternal spring" because of its consistent 27 degrees C (80.6 degrees F) year-round weather. Cuernavaca is truly in the heart of Mexico <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico> , and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful and culturally rich regions of the country. The city has examples of ancient Aztec <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aztec> and Tlahuica <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tlahuica&action=edit> cultures and of colonial buildings, such as the Palacio de Cortés <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palacio_de_Cort%C3%A9s> .
Content of this workshop will focus on various aspects of Mexican culture and history and should be of interest whether or not attendees are planning to join the study abroad trip.
