[Cpcommunicator] Charting Tropical Waters special presentation on Central 7/11

The CPCC Libraries invite you to join us for a special lunch-n-learn
presentation by Chris Paynter, Program Chair - GIS, on Wednesday, July
11, 2007, from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. in LRC404. Chris's presentation will
focus on Poster 16: Charting Tropical Waters - Philippines, and will
discuss how the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey mapped the Philippine
Islands following the Spanish-American War using a variety of unique
surveying techniques.
This presentation is the second of four being held in conjunction with
the Smithsonian and NOAA "From Sea to Shining Sea: 200 years of Charting
America's Coasts" poster exhibit. Additional presentations by
Mecklenburg County's GIS staff will be held on July 18 and 19 from
6:00-7:00 p.m in Pease Auditorium.
