The Golden LEAF Scholarship program will provide grants of $3,000 for
the 2007-08 academic year for up to 100 current community college
students who transfer to one of the sixteen public universities in N.C.
in the fall of 2007. These scholarships will be awarded through a grant
from the Golden LEAF Foundation.

To be eligible, a community college transfer student must:

* Be currently enrolled at a N.C. community college.

* Be a N.C. resident for tuition purposes.

* Transfer to one of the state's public universities for the
first time in the fall of 2007 as a full-time degree-seeking student
(see list of qualifying campuses on reverse side of this page.)

* Reside in one of 73 qualifying counties (see county list on
reverse side of this page.) Note: the qualifying counties for new
students applying for fall 2007 are rural counties that are economically
distressed (Tier I, II and III) and/or tobacco dependent.

* Demonstrate financial need. Students MUST submit the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for this
scholarship.

*         Submit an application.

For the purposes of this scholarship, the value of real property owned
by farm families will not be considered when determining financial need.
Priority consideration will be given to students who were adversely
affected by the decline of the tobacco industry. Students in default on
a student loans and students who have already been awarded bachelor
degrees at four-year colleges and universities are not eligible for this
scholarship.

The priority application deadline for transfer students is March 15,
2007.

Students who submit Golden LEAF applications or their FAFSAs after the
priority deadline will be considered if funds remain available after
qualified students who apply by the deadline are awarded.

Applications and full details for the Golden LEAF Scholarship program
for four-year public universities will be posted on the Internet at
www.CFNC.org/goldenleaf by late January 2007.
