The Financial Aid office is proud to advertise the Asheville Area
Hospitality Scholarship offered through the Asheville Area Chamber of
Commerce. The Asheville Area Hospitality Scholarship provides a one-year
scholarship to a western N.C. resident pursuing postsecondary education
in N.C. in a hospitality or culinary curriculum, leading to an
associate's degree. The scholarship value is $2,000.

 

The eligibility criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

 

*	Applicants must be a resident of Ashe, Alleghany, Avery,
Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson,
Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain,
Transylvania, Yancey, Watauga, and Wilkes County. 
*	Must maintain full- or part-time student status. 
*	Must maintain a good academic standing.

The deadline for applying for this scholarship for the upcoming
2007-2008 school year is February 17, 2006.

 

State Employees Association of N.C. scholarship awards

 

State Employees Association of N.C. awards annual scholarships for state
employee dependents and spouses who are members of SEANC. The awards
consist of $1,000 annual scholarships for students enrolled in a
four-year college or university and $500 annual scholarships for those
enrolled in a community college or technical school. Students must be
enrolled full-time in order to apply. Scholarship applications may be
obtained online through www.seanc.org <http://www.seanc.org/>  under the
member benefits section or at the CPCC Financial Aid/VA Office. 

 

Application deadline for the 2007-2008 school year is April 15, 2007,
and winners will be notified by June 2007.  

 

There are three categories under which students may apply and may apply
under one category only. 

 

*	Category I-Financial Need, which is based on academic
performance and financial need. Must be enrolled full-time before
disbursements are made. 
*	Category II-Merit based, on academic performance with no
financial need consideration. Must be enrolled full-time before
disbursements are made.
*	Category III-Member only, awarded to active and associate
members who are working full-time and wish to continue their education
on a part-time basis.

 

Scholarship applications are to be returned to the Scholarship Chair of
the SEANC district where the parent is a member. Please call
1.800.222.2758 if there is a question as to where to mail the
