The Central High Building is undergoing renovation to the front façade. The main front entrance near the Student Success Center and the front entrance near the corner of Pease Lane and Elizabeth Avenue are closed. As a result, the evacuations routes for the building have been changed and the new routes have been posted in the building.

Please take time to locate the nearest exit so you will be prepared to safely leave the building if an emergency situation occurs. If you are teaching a class in Central High, please review this information with your students during the first week of class.

At the conclusion of this work in 2007, the building will look much as it did between 1924 and 1959 when it was Charlotte's premier high school, and several maintenance issues will be corrected. The building may be entered at the basement level from the rear and from Pease Lane, which is also equipped with a handicapped lift to street level. An elevator is located inside the building at the rear entrance. Stairwells are marked, as are exit routes.

Thanks for your cooperation during this time.
