In order to comply with N.C. State Information Technology Guidelines, a
new College policy regarding employee network accounts went into effect
last year on March 31, 2006.

This policy requires College employees to reset network account
passwords periodically to ensure the security of student and other data
residing on College information systems. New passwords must adhere to
security "best practices" listed in the Frequently Asked Questions
<http://www.cpcc.edu/itservices/projects/password.asp> .

To avoid problems logging in to College computing resources, passwords
must be changed every six months.

You can change your password from any campus workstation by selecting -
Clt-Alt-Delete. This process will provide you the abiliy to change your
password.

Passwords must match the security criteria:

* Is at least 6 characters

* Has not been used in the previous 3 passwords

* Must not have been changed in the last 1 day

* Does not contain your account or full name

* Contains at least 3 of the following 4 character groups:

*         English uppercase characters (A through Z)

*         English lowercase characters (a through z)

*         Numerals (0 through 9)

*         Non-alphabetic characters (such as !, $, or % --please do not
use a \ (backslash) or a & (ampersand))

If you have not done so already, please take a moment to visit the CPCC
Account Manager <https://secure2.cpcc.edu/accountmanager> (same as the
SNAP interface for students) to create your secret questions and
answers. We also ask that you review our Frequently Asked Questions
<http://www.cpcc.edu/itservices/projects/password.asp>  regarding the
password reset process.
