We are targeting days when we expect the heaviest traffic, August 6-7 and August 13-17, 2007. Registration is particularly high on Central Campus, but volunteers are also needed at Cato, Harper, Harris, Levine, and North. Volunteers are needed to answer general questions, direct students to the appropriate office or individual, explain how to interpret the class schedule, how to find open sections, and how to complete the registration process. Volunteers are not asked to do program-specific advisement. Preliminary numbers show that registration is up. I want to thank all who have been involved in the registration and counseling process. One of our top priorities is providing students with the support they need in finding the right program and registering for classes at CPCC. We all play a critical role in ensuring success for our students. As always, customer service is critical to everything we do at CPCC. Whenever you see a student with a question, stop and ask if you can help. The Information Booths scheduled at every campus this week are vitally important to our new students, and I want to thank everyone who volunteered to assist. I also want to thank those who volunteered to assist with registration in the past few weeks. At our Fall Forum, I shared some of what's new at CPCC this year. When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Title IV funds that the student was originally scheduled to receive. If the amount disbursed to the student is greater than the amount the student earned, unearned funds must be returned to the U.S. Department of Education within 30 days after the student stopped attending. The financial aid award is voided for students who never attended, and the student is billed for any tuition, fees and/or bookstore charges. For students who fail to receive at least one passing grade, a calculation is completed at the 50% point of the semester and the student is billed for Title IV funds not earned.
