-- From Tracie Tallant

Fifty-five percent of all Americans over the age of 50 are threatened
with osteoporosis and low bone mass, resulting in some 1.3 million bone
fractures a year. Occupational Health and Safety is offering a simple,
five-minute ultrasound of a person's heel that will determine the risk
for this largely preventable disease.
The screening will be offered on Tuesday, October 7, from 9:30-11:30
a.m., Terrell Room 300.
CPCC's State of N.C. Teachers' and Employees' Medical Insurance is
accepted and will be filed for you. The bone density screening results
will be available within ten minutes of the test and can be sent
directly to your physician. General information and literature will also
be available. This screening is open to employees, spouses, retirees,
students, etc. depending upon insurance.

Please contact Tracie Tallant in Occupational Health and Safety, 6580,
for an appointment or for more information.
