An enthusiastic and tireless advocate for the interests of immigrants, Dr. Frink had worked full time for three years in the English as a Second Language program at Concord High School. Two evenings a week, he would drive to Charlotte to teach English as a Second Language to adults in our ESL program. Once, when asked why he chose to drive all the way to Charlotte to teach ESL in the evenings, he replied, "Because this is where the need is greatest." The faculty, staff, and students of the English as a Second Language program will miss Randle deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Funeral services are planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury. --Clint McElroy ------------------------------ This message is from the Communicator. Effective immediately, you may start using www.cpcc.edu to access the college home page and replace the cpcc.cc.nc.us at the end of your e-mail address with cpcc.edu. Please use the new addressing scheme in all future stationery and publications. This simplifies e-mail addressing and will facilitate easy access to college Internet resources for current and future students. Please rest assured the old addresses for college web sites and e-mail will also remain operational so incoming messages using your old e-mail address can still reach your inbox. You don't have to throw away your supply of business cards and other stationery. See this week's online or printed Communicator for examples of old Internet addresses converted to new cpcc.edu addresses. http://inside.cpcc.edu/ccnews/default.asp This change is not being universally applied to all N.C. community colleges. Each college has to apply for and obtain its own domain address. Please do not make changes to addresses of people at other colleges unless you are advised by them to do so. Your Information Technology Services Help Desk remains available to answer any questions you may have about this or any other technology issue related to the Internet, web services, mainframe & other systems, office and lab computers, software, smart classrooms, network, telephones, voice mail, e-mail and fax machines. You will note on the bottom of the paystub that there is a space for Leave Type, Leave Balance Forward, Leave Accrued, Leave Used and Leave End Balance. The totals found in these spaces are not correct due to differences in the way the new Colleague system calculates leave accruals versus what normally was used under the HRS system. This problem was faced by the majority of pilot schools and could not be resolved before the January payroll was processed. Instructions were sent out to all pilot schools on January 28 on how to correct the leave accounting issues. Therefore, all leave accounting will be corrected for the February payroll based on the instructions provided by our Datatel Software Implementation Specialist. Questions regarding your leave accounting can be addressed to Schnell Dubose or Steve McClure in the Human Resources Department. --Steve McClure ------------------------------ This message is from the Communicator.
