Subject: Seeking Appointees to the NCCCS Data Governance Committee

In May 2012, NCCCS launched the Data Initiative to establish a robust data system that provides accurate, holistic, and accessible information which would foster a culture of data-driven decision making, addressing research questions, and informing policies. This initiative consists of three phases. In Phase I, focus groups identified and defined business needs and secured tools to utilize in the NCCCS data system. The current phase, Phase II, has been focused on the implementation of processes and technical solutions that serve business needs. Phase III will mark the establishment of a Data Governance Committee (DGC). The DGC will monitor data quality and reporting and recommending changes to maintain and sustain effective data systems.

The North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents have reviewed the attached Data Governance Committee Scope and Procedures, which was subsequently approved by the State Board on February 19, 2016. The DGC will consist of fifteen members (ten from the colleges and five from the System Office). In the next month our association along with other various other professional associations will be appointing members to the DGC.

CCPRO will appoint three representatives to the DGC. Are you interested in being a part of the decision-making body that will ensure our data systems effectively address the business needs of our colleges? If so, please complete the Data Governance Committee Appointment Interest Form (linked below).
